Benefits with Healthy Blue
Nothing is more important than keeping you and your family healthy. We offer the care you need, plus extra benefits just for people in our plan.
Members who complete a well visit with their care provider can receive one $75 gift card per year to purchase:
- Over-the-counter (OTC) items, such as pain relievers, nasal decongestants, nutritional supplements, sleep aids, incontinence products, and more.
- Personal hygiene items, such as feminine products, shampoos, conditioners, deodorants, toothbrush holders, hair combs/brushes, and facial tissues.
Members can order the card on the online portal or in the Sydney® Health app.
Members can earn rewards for making healthy choices. Members can earn rewards when they:
- Complete their initial health screenings.
- Participate in their preventive care visits and well-child visits.
- Go to their prenatal and postpartum checkups.
- Complete their diabetic retinal eye exams.
- Get their children their lead screenings.
- Complete a smoking cessation program.
- Complete their dental exams.
- Get their annual flu vaccines.
The rewards are between $10 and $50. These amounts can be loaded to a gift card such as Amazon, local restaurants, Home Depot, Uber, Walmart, Mastercard, and more. Members can check their Healthy Rewards status and redeem their Healthy Rewards cards in their online portal or through the Sydney Health app.
- Transportation services — Receive one of the following with a value up to $75: rideshare gift card, gas card, oil change, public transportation support, or a AAA membership, for members age 18 and older who complete their annual doctor visit.
- Members can receive a smartphone preloaded with health apps and resources designed to help you quickly access care and stay healthy. Care coordinator authorization required.
- Members who complete their annual doctor visit are eligible to receive a $75 gift card to use for over-the-counter items that support health and personal hygiene.
- Healthy lifestyle aids — Waiver members and members 18 and older, diagnosed with coronary artery disease (CAD), congestive heart failure (CHF), hypertension (HTN), or diabetes, can select one healthy lifestyle aid per year such as a digital scale, diabetic insoles, abdominal binders, and blood pressure monitors from a custom catalog. The list of available items is available for members to choose from in the online portal or on the Sydney Health app. The maximum value of any one item is $75.
- Asthma and COPD Relief Catalog — Members with asthma or COPD can select up to two items per year ($200 max value) from a custom catalogue of asthma and allergy relief products such as: inhaler vaporizer kits, air purifiers, travel nebulizer compressor systems, hypoallergenic bedding, pillow covers and mattress covers, HEPA air filters, and asthma monitoring devices to manage symptom triggers and prevent asthma attacks. Members can order their catalog items from their online portal or the Sydney Health app.
- Sensory Solutions — Members ages 18 and under on the IDD, autism, and SED waivers or with a diagnosis of ADD, ADHD, or anxiety can receive a $100 allowance per year to purchase sensory products, from a preferred partner. Available items are things like custom textile products, equipment, toys, and other tactile and sensory products like gravity blankets, thinking putty, fidget spinners, and resistance bands. These products are meant to help improve conversation building and fine motor skills, help reduce anxiety, improve focus, and more. Members can request the gift card through their online portal or the Sydney Health app. When they receive their gift card, they can use it to order specialized items from a partner website.
- Digital Mental Health Toolkit: Emotional Well-Being Program — Members, ages 13 and older, can receive unlimited access to the online community which promotes behavioral health and wellness through instruction, coaching, goal setting and monitoring. These self-help resources ensure members can actively participate in their journey to becoming and staying mentally and physically healthy. Resources include:
- Access to on-demand personalized self-paced online programs with interactive multimedia tools and activities, and the ability to track progress.
- Opt-in support from a Masters-level clinical coach by phone, email or text to further their emotional well-being goals.
- The ability to engage family and friends in their experience to provide ongoing encouragement.
- Free webinars on a variety of emotional well-being topics. Members can use the platform to get support when they need it and practice skills that improve conditions in ways that promote overall good health.
- Digital Mental Health Toolkit: Meditation App Subscription — Members, ages 13 and older, diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, depression, or anxiety can receive one meditation app subscription per year with guided meditations, sleeps aids, and other resources to promote mindfulness and reduce stress. Members can order their subscription through the online portal or the Sydney Health app.
- ChooseHealthy — ChooseHealthy, is an online resource which includes videos, articles, and self-care tools on topics such as nutrition, weight management, exercise, and overall health. This is available to all members through their Healthy Blue member portal.
- WeightWatchers — Members, ages 18 and older, diagnosed with hypertension or diabetes, can receive a three-month voucher for the WeightWatchers Core Membership once per year. Members can access their Weight Watchers membership in their online portal or through the Sydney Health App.
- Healthy food as preventive medicine — Members over 18 who are diagnosed with depression or anxiety can choose between three options to support their healthy eating habits. Members can enroll in a food delivery service, which will get them three months of healthy produce delivered to their home, or they can receive a $75 Healthy Grocery Store gift card, or they can get a membership to Sam's Club or Costco to assist them in purchasing healthy food. All three options can be redeemed through members' online portal or through their Sydney Health app.
- Exercise Essentials — Members, ages 18 and older, diagnosed with hypertension or diabetes, can select one of the Exercise Essentials options once per year:
- Two items from a fitness catalog or
- A $50 gift card to use toward a gym membership.
- Get Connected to Health — Members who are assigned a care coordinator are eligible for the Get Connected to Health program and can receive a high-quality smartphone preloaded with a curated selection of digital health applications and resources designed to help them quickly access care and stay healthy (max one per household). This enhanced offering provides members with a higher-quality phone at no cost with unlimited minutes, text messages, data, and accessories. Members access this benefit by working with their care coordinator.
- Online SUD Recovery Support — Members, ages 13 and older, with substance use disorders who are referred by their care coordinator, will receive access to our SUD Recovery Support Program, a mobile platform that provides daily motivations/check in, peer support through discussion groups, and peer to peer messaging, counselor messaging, care plan reminders, goals, journals, high risk location alerts, and content to support ongoing recovery. Members access this benefit by working with their care coordinator.
- Community transportation — Members, ages 22 and older can get up to 30 roundtrips or 60 one-way trips per year to assist with transportation needs to cover for example: grocery stores, food banks, places of worship, job interviews, government offices (DSS, DMV, and the Social Security Office), post offices, and support groups. Members access this benefit through their Access2Care account.
- Transportation Essentials — Members 18 and older who complete a wellness visit will be able to receive one of the following with a value up to $75 per member per year: rideshare gift card, gas card, oil change gift card, public transportation support, or a AAA membership. Members can order this card through their online portal or the Sydney Health app.
- Home safety — Members on FE, PD, and I/DD waivers and members ages 2-4 who have completed a well-child visit can select up to two home safety items from a custom catalog. The catalog includes items such as: carbon monoxide detectors, hearing impaired smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, air quality monitor, lead test kit, gun locks, radon detectors, night lights, door alarms, or mold tests. Members can order items from their online portal or the Sydney Health app. The combined value of the items will not exceed $75.
- P.O. Box access — Post office boxes (P.O. Box) benefit Tribal members by enabling them to receive mail in areas where mail may not be delivered directly to their homes. The benefits of P.O. boxes include security, privacy, the need for quicker delivery, and to maintain a permanent mailing address. Healthy Blue will pay for one year of (size small) post office box for Tribal members ages 18 and older. (One-time benefit.)
- Identification support — Members in Foster Care who are over the age of 18 and members who are referred by their care coordinator can receive a one-time gift card worth $49 that can be used to obtain a driver's license, birth certificate, or state identification card. Members can access their gift card through their online portal or on the Sydney Health app.
- Healthy home — Healthy Blue members on the I/DD, PD, FE, BI waivers, or the waiver waiting lists who own their own home can receive up to $250 toward pest control treatments to reduce pests in the home or carpet cleaning services to help mitigate asthma triggers. One option per household per year for services not covered under KanCare; benefit must be authorized by the member's care coordinator.
- e-Reader — Youth in Foster Care and members ages 0-17 on the I/DD, autism, and SED waivers and members identified by a care coordinator as at-risk or diagnosed with behavioral health disorders can receive an e-reader that can be used to read books, watch movies, listen to podcasts, and more. (One-time benefit). Members will access this benefit through their care coordinator.
- Healthy Blue members on I/DD waiver with sensory or dental anxiety can receive one dental desensitization kit per year to help reduce anxiety and stress. The dental desensitization kit can be ordered on members' online portal or through the Sydney Health app. It has an approximate value of $30.
- Mom & Baby Essentials — Members who complete a postpartum visit within 12 months of having their baby can receive a $100 gift card to purchase essential nursing and baby items. The new moms can claim this benefit through their online portal or through their Sydney Health app. They will receive a gift card in the mail that can be used to purchase items from a catalogue of items specifically designed to support new moms and babies.
- Free diapers — New moms who complete their child's first and second well-child visit can receive one package of diapers each quarter until the age of 1 (up to 800 diapers).
- Members who complete a prenatal care visit within their first trimester can select two items from a custom catalog that includes items designed to support a healthy pregnancy. The two items can be worth up to a combined total of $100, and include options like folic acid supplements, maternity support belts, maternity support hose, and compression socks. Members are eligible for this benefit once per pregnancy and can redeem their catalog items by accessing their online portal or through the Sydney Health app.
- Pregnant moms can receive a $75 Healthy Grocery Card once per pregnancy. Members can obtain their card from the online portal or through the Sydney Health app.
- Members, ages 5-18, can receive a $75 gift card per year to use toward annual membership fees to youth clubs, such as: Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and 4H. Members' guardians can order the gift card on the online portal or in the Sydney Health app.
- Youth in foster care, ages 5-17, can choose from one of the following packages per year:
- Family Game Night package includes a card game, jumbo playing dice, jigsaw puzzle and a classic board game
- Family Movie Night: a $50 movie theater gift card or
- Family Dinner Night: a $50 restaurant gift card
- Youth in Foster Care ages 5-18 can receive one $75 gift card per year for online classes that offer a variety of engaging, small-group classes online to explore their interests in depth via interactive, live video by experienced, independent educators. Guardians can obtain the gift card by accessing the members' online portal or the Sydney Health app.
- Members ages 5-17 who complete a well-child visit can receive a $200 gift card which can be used to pay for a summer camp enrollment fee. Youth members' guardians can order the gift cards through the online portal or by using the Sydney Health app. Camps must take credit card payments and be registered as youth camps in order to process the gift card payments.
- Members who are in foster care (up to age 17) can receive a $50 gift card per year to purchase clothing at retailers such as Kohl's, TJ Maxx, or Old Navy. Members' guardians can order the gift cards in their online portal or in the Sydney Health app.
- Healthy Blue Job Connections is a wrap-around employment program that helps members find job opportunities, learn new skills, and grow in their careers using a digital platform they can access anytime, anywhere, at no cost to the member. Members, ages 18 and older, enrolled in the Job Connections Program can earn $25 in incentives for completing program milestones such as uploading a resume and completing a skills assessment, securing an interview, or completing a three-month follow up assessment. Members can earn up to $75 in incentives as they progress through the program.
- Members, ages 16 and older, can receive a one-time gift card to cover fees to take GED exams. The card covers the cost of all four GED exams, up to $160. Members can order through the online portal or in the Sydney Health app.
- Members receive access to the Community Resource Link, an online resource designed to connect Kansas members with local community-based programs, benefits, and services.
- Members who attest to enrolling in a university, college, community college, or trade school within one year of graduation can receive a $75 gift card once per lifetime to use towards textbooks and dorm room items. Members can obtain their card from the online portal or through the Sydney Health App.

On your application, you can choose Healthy Blue as your health plan.
After you are approved for benefits, you’ll be assigned to the health plan that you selected on your application. You have up to 90 days to change your health plan.
Change your health plan during open enrollment
You can change your health plan each year in your open enrollment period. There are three ways to change your plan:
